· Diameter: coarse
· Medulla: absent or continuous, amorphous or vacuolated; width may be narrow to very broad (without mosaic pattern)
· Scales: imbricate and with no protrusions from hair shaft
· Unbanded: ovoid structures abundant, pigment coarse
· Root: elongated; medullary structure continues into root area; traces of follicular tissue may
be present
