Hippocampal neuron.

Fluorescently labelled proteins can be expressed in neurons and observed for their ability to translocate to the nucleus in response to neuronal activity. Shown here is a hippocampal neuron transfected with Yellow-Fluorescent Protein (YFP) tagged transglutaminase under control conditions.
