Light microscope histology image of a 0.5 micron section cut through the acinar portion of mammalian pancreatic tissue. Note the dividing acinar cell on the right side of the image.  The inactive precursors of digestive enzymes are stored in the zymogen granules. These are easy to see as numerous, dark, round structures in each acinar cell. Between the pancreatic acinar tissue, are capillaries, many of which contain red blood cells.  ZEISS Standard RA LM
