Key Histology FeaturesInstructions: Run your mouse over the histology slide want to view. Key histology features are described. If a link is present, click to view and listen to the histology audioslide. Sebacious GlandThis is a histology slide of a sebacious gland. It appears as a foamy structure lying in the
dermis. There are polyhedral cells with central nuclei. In the periphery of the gland
are the basal cells. The basal cells have more flattened nuclei. These are mitotically active cells.
As the cells become filled with lipid, they move away from the periphery. The entire cell and its
product will be discharged onto a hair follicle. Thus, this is a holocrine gland.
